CITRIX PVS : Stop Code :NETWORK BOOT DUPLICATE ADDRESS - SOLVED

SYMPTOMS:

1. Citrix PVS target device gives BSOD error "Stop Code :NETWORK BOOT DUPLICATE ADDRESS".


2. Target device boots fine from the same machine from where image is captured (Same MAC Address)

3. Target device failed to boot while booting from machine which have different MAC address and different Network card (E1000, VMXNET3)

Reason:

1. There is an IP conflict in the network. May be static ip is configured during PVS image capture and which makes duplicate IP in network. 

2. Dhcp server is malfunctioning. It providing same IP address to multiple clients. 

3. There is hidden adapter in the image. 

Solution:

Solution 1:

Check if static IP is configured in the image. If so, capture image again with Dhcp enabled. 

Solution 2 :

Observe which IP is getting on the machine during PXE boot. And verify this ip is already available in network. In that case, dhcp is malfunctioning. 

Solution 3:

Remove the hidden network adapter from image with below steps. 

we need to perform image capture again with below step.


1. Boot the VM from local HDD which have OS, all applications, VDA Agent and PVS Target Software.

2. Login with the account which we used to capture image previously.

3. Open Command Prompt, Type "set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1" command.

4. Open "Device Manager"

5. Click "View" Menu and click "Show Hidden Devices"

6. Expand "Network Adapters"

7. Choose Unused previously Used E1000E adapter (Showing as "Intel(R) 82574L Gigabit Network Connection) or unused VMXNET3 adapter , right click and "Uninstall".

Uninstall if there is any other unused Adapters present.

10. Open "Imaging Wizard" again from this machine and create a new vDisk.

11. Map new vDisk to all PVS target devices.
