Unable to Install .NET 3.5 in Windows 10. Enabling .NET 3.5 features redirects to Windows Update Service - SOLVED

Problem:

Unable to enable .NET 3.5 component in Windows 10.  While enabling .NET 3.5 feature in "Turn Windows Features On or Off", it redirects to internet.

Reason:

By default, Windows 10 will try to contact internet for Adding additional features and components.

Solution:

Below solution explains the steps to install .NET 3.5 from Windows 10 Installation media.

1. mount the Windows 10 installation media, and open "Sources>sxs folder". Make a note of this path. In my example, my installation media is D drive. So the path will be "D:\Sources\sxs"

2. Open "Run", type "gpedit.msc"

Go to "Computer Configuration > Administrative Template > System".


3. Open "Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair "

On alternate source path, type "D:\sources\sxs"

Tick " Never attempt to download payload from windows update"

4. Click "OK"

5. Go to "Control Panel" > "Programs and Features"

6. Click  "Turn Windows Features On or Off" from left side menu.

7. Choose " .NET Framework 3.5 ", Click "OK"

8. The wizard will automatically install .NET 3.5 from D:/Sources/sxs folder.
