App-v 5.1: The Package was not added. An unexpected error occurred while retrieving the package. Please ensure that it exists and that the package's file permissions allow the management service to access it- SOLVED


Unable to Add App-V Packages in App-v 5.1 application Virtualization Management Console.


It gives error:

"The Package was not added. An unexpected error occurred while retrieving the package at [UNC Path]. Please ensure that it exists and that the package's file permissions allow the management service to access it"


Windows Event Log Will show below error:

"There was a problem retrieving the requested package [UNC Path] for import. Error message: Creating an instance of the COM component with CLSID {885A0661-50B8-4C30-B134-456B52293229} from the IClassFactory failed due to the following error: 80004002 No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE))"


App-V Management Console Error:

The Package was not added. An unexpected error occurred while retrieving the package. Please ensure that it exists and that the package's file permissions allow the management service to access it



Windows Event Log:

There was a problem retrieving the requested package [UNC Path] for import. Reason:


This is the known issue in App-V 5.1.
It is resolved by Appv Hot fix.


Solution:

1. Go to the below Microsoft Hot Fix URL.

2. Click Download url for "App-V 5.1 September 2017 release which have Hot fix for App-V Management Server.


3. Download "MDOPSeptRel\Appv5.1RTM_Server_KB4041137.exe"


4. Install this Hot Fix On App-v Management Server and perform reboot.

5. Now you will be able to add Appv Packages through App-v Management console via UNC or HTTP without any error.
